Using a truck rental to move with pets

It’s 6:00 am and you wake up with an excitement in your eyes. It’s moving day and you have all your tools ready to go. Markers, boxes galore, and enough tape to cover up the Empire State building –twice. So you start taking out your things like clothes, books, toys, etc. As you go along, it gets more complicated to where comes to the point where you look at your stuff and you say, “Where and why did I keep all of this?” Now the only great thing about moving day is that you get to see all your stuff at the same time all around the floor spilling out of boxes. Then you have to decide where you are going to put it all when you get to your new home. Labeling, sorting again, and then to the desperate end you just throw most of your “stuff” away. When you think have it all sorted it out, you look over to the 4x4 cage carrying your precious golden retriever, the 12 gallon tank full of tropical fish, and the tweet tweets coming from the white cage hanging from the kitchen ceiling. Moving –sort of easy. Moving with pets –yikes!

Well, now that you sorted things out to the best of your ability your significant other arrives with the truck rental that you requested last week. Thank goodness for large trucks! At this point on your moving day, the truck comes around like a beacon in the night. There are several great advantages to a truck rental: • They come in different sizes depending on how much stuff you have • Most come equipped with a ramp so your back won’t give out on you trying to reach up into the bed of the truck. • The larger trucks are just that. Trucks for two or three passengers. Other can easily be hitched to your car or truck. • They are not that expensive. They can range between $20 to $120 a day depending on the size, of course

The truck rental is the real do it yourselfer. Hopefully you have friends and family to help out and usually the job gets done within a few hours. Then you ask yourself this question, “Should I put my pets in the the truck too?” If you are not a pet lover, the answer is obvious. If you love them enough to overtake your living room, then make other accommodations for them.

The other alternative to a truck rental is the all too famous moving trucks . It comes equipped with all the moving tools you will need, two to three burly men, and a statement of charges long enough to wrap next year’s Christmas gifts. Now, if you can afford this option, go for it. A moving truck is essential especially if you have large items such a piano or several appliances larger than a stove. Leave the back breaking work for the big guys and worry about the bill later. At least with this option you will have enough room to put your pets in the back of your car or truck and begin making room for your “stuff” in your new home.
